Museum Launches "Liner Notes" Oral History Archive Project

Rock ‘n’ Soul is launching an ever-expanding music oral history project in conjunction with Rhodes College’s “Crossroads to Freedom” Digital Archive, titled  “Line Notes: Words Behind the Music.”  In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum is teaming up with Rhodes College students to record, preserve and disseminate oral history interviews relating to the city’s rich musical history and legacy. One Way Hendrix Betters Presley & Cash

Elvis Purchases Graceland Mansion

Today is Friday, March 19, and on this day in music history... 53 years ago, Elvis Presley purchased the white-columned mansion and 13.8 acre estate in the Whitehaven community of Memphis, moving from an East Memphis home at 1034 Audubon Drive. Elvis' mother and father moved into the home with the young music star. The sale price was approximately $100,000. The land was originally owned by S.C.
